The painting's structure follows that logic: dense navy and grey occupy the upper field while gold and warm amber erupt from the center, uncontained and directional. The brushwork carries the energy of a single decisive moment rather than a gradual building, because that… is precisely what this painting records. It was made in response to a night standing around a fire with 85 people, and the sudden recognition of how completely raw emotion connects us when we allow it to move freely.
