About this artwork
With this work, I wanted to capture the precise moment when life explodes with unstoppable force, even where it seems impossible. I chose to paint these cherry blossoms climbing a dark rock face to explore the contrast between the ephemeral delicacy of the petals and the age-old hardness of the stone.
For me, this canvas represents resilience: the ability of beauty to flourish despite adversity. I use oil paint with a highly textured technique;… I apply the pinks and whites with thick, almost sculptural brushstrokes, giving the flowers a physical body that the viewer can almost feel. I hope that those who view this painting can feel the same vibrant energy and contemplative peace that I experience when I witness the spectacle of spring's rebirth.
