In “She’s Alone,” I wanted to explore that moment of solitude, where I’m left wondering—does she feel peace in this stillness, or is she searching for something more? Her posture holds both vulnerability and strength, as if she’s reflecting on what comes next. Maybe she’s content, quietly embracing the joy of being alone, or perhaps she’s feeling the weight of isolation, yearning for connection. I painted her with this ambiguity in mind—she’s alone,…
but is she truly lonely? For me, the beauty lies in not knowing if she’s on the edge of happiness or simply embracing the silence.

Marie Manon Corbeil began to paint amidst personal challenges:‘Between sadness and hope, there was art’. Realizing that life’s difficulties provided her with a new means of expression, Corbeil wants to convey a sense of joy within her contemporary abstract works. She draws forms and writes positive words under each canvas before beginning a piece. Employing large brushes to provoke unplanned strokes, she also uses her fingers to optimize the vibrant colors in her compositions.
