About this artwork
My work ‘Het Land der Blinden’ (in The Land Of The Blinds is the One Eyed Man King)refers literal to the blinds that separate the in from the outside world. In this specific case the blinds are half transparant, half opaque in order to mask parts of the outside activity to the eye. And, what remained unrevealed for us?
So, window-dressing, blinds and louvers are obviously the ideal translation to characterize this period in time for me.
In the… land of the Blinds, as every one knows, the one eyed man is king. For me this metaphor fits this crisis with all of her insecurities. Opinions are wide spread and found everywhere but are they much of use or the termites that eat the last leg from underneath the chair of consensus. We need to navigate trough facts, fiction, fake news and wishful thinking. Mankind is tempted to oppertunism and the news that suits the best might as wel be the most true. This could easily paves the path for the man with one eye to steal the crown.
