About this artwork
With Claim 164, I work in a wide-spreading, horizontal format that makes color perceptible as an almost landscape-like space. A panorama of warm yellow, orange, and red tones unfolds across the 140 × 240 cm canvas in a dense vertical movement.
In the lower section, the layers of paint become denser, while the upper part of the picture plane appears lighter and more atmospheric. This creates a tension between grounding and openness. The paint flows,… drips, and overlaps; gravity and deliberate interventions shape the process equally.
Up close, the surface becomes a complex network of lines and splashes; from a distance, the composition resembles a vibrant, abstracted horizon. With this work, I continue my exploration of color as a living, self-organizing material.
