About this artwork
In Claim 183, I work with a bright, open color structure that spreads across the entire canvas. A cool, light blue forms the background, upon which numerous small traces of color, drops, and lines develop.
I let the paint flow, splash, and react with one another. I'm particularly interested in the moment when many individual traces merge into a cohesive structure. Control and chance intertwine – I guide the process without completely controlling… it.
The colors are more concentrated in the lower section, while the upper section appears lighter and airier. This creates a subtle sense of movement within the picture space.
With Claim 183, I explore abstraction as a living field of color, rhythm, and energy – a surface that self-organizes in the process and constantly reveals new details.
