About this artwork

In this painting, I've tried to capture the electrifying essence of speed and competition here with the infamous Ayrton Senna driving Colin Chapmans Lotus 97. Utilizing oil on linen, I blend figurative realism with elements of pop art to portray a hopefullydynamic scene leaving the viewer to focus on the driver himself and let them imagine the rest of the car for themselves. The stark, graphic contrasts and use of real 22ct Gold leaf on the 'Special'… of JPS emphasise the sheer brilliance and genius of the man who was Senna. As you move around the painting, the 22ct gold catches the light and shines - just like the man himself. This piece pulsates with the adrenaline of the race, destined to inject vigor and a spirit of adventure into any living space.
