About this artwork
NOWTHERE
In his series EPHEMERS, the artist Martin Ecker deals with the perception of the zeitgeist, in a special way with the phenomena of the fleeting, the transitory, which ultimately remain without meaning. With NOWTHERE, Ecker recalls physical states from everyday life, in the here and now without really being there. In NOWTHERE Ecker creates a space that allows everything and at the same time shows none of it.
Whereby Ecker's ephemeral, photographic… recordings obviously assert distinctions in the course of their progressive ephemerization - less and less as a perceptible property of the individual artefact, on the other hand more and more in the sense of a process of perception at the artefact, indeed as a procedural dissolution of boundaries of artefacts and media in perception.
The EPHEMERS series was created in 2020 - 2021, consisting of 10 large-format analogue B/W photographs that are published in a limited edition

« My work is dedicated to deciphering chance and intention. »
Martin Ecker is a painter and photographer based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally. He cites space, time, and light playing a role in almost all of his compositions. In addition, Ecker's artistic practice favors experimentation with reactive processes and approaches. He has developed his own methods using living organisms in analog photography and also employs oxidation processes of precious metals his paintings.
