About this artwork
The narrow street represents the conscious self: structured, habitual, and contained. A space built for passage rather than reflection. The lone figure moves forward with eyes downcast, absorbed in a phone, her attention deliberately narrowed.
Above her floats an orca - vast, silent, and weighty. It is not an external intrusion but a manifestation of the psyche’s deeper strata: emotional mass in the form of memory, grief, unresolved identity, fear… or desire that resists articulation. Its enormity contrasts with the restraint below, exposing the imbalance between inner magnitude and outward composure.
There is no interaction between the two. The figure does not look up. The mind continues functioning while carrying something immense just beyond conscious reach. The work explores psychological coexistence - the way ordinary life proceeds beneath unintegrated depths. Unseen yet ever-present.
Wojnowski, a Chelsea College of Art and Design alumnus, exercises his superb skills in acrylic paintings and interior design. Mesmerizing spectators through fine detail blended with expressive brushwork, he delineates a whimsical, dreamlike world where precision coexists with artistic freedom. He compels, through vibrant nuances of colour, a dive into an enchanting universe of nostalgia, playfulness and surrealism, ultimately sparking profound joy, reflection and momentary escape from reality.
