About this artwork
I let myself be guided by the memory of a living, impetuous sea. In Foam and Rock, I sought to bring back that moment when the wave, swollen with energy, crashes against the rock. The material, worked in relief, carries this fluid violence—the marble powder gives the foam a mineral, almost tactile presence. Nothing is fixed: everything is movement, brilliance, impact. It is water in its strength, its memory, its rhythm. It is a painting born from… a lived moment, transformed by abstraction to rediscover not the image, but the raw emotion of the sea.
Maryse Pique is a self-taught painter, shaped by her daily dialogue with materials and color. Following a free abstraction, her style is nourished by the superposition of layers and colorful textures in a spontaneous symphony of gestures and hues. Through her rhythmic works, vibrant with emotion, she shares a range of inner sensations, from tensions to renewals, and an invitation to reflection and freedom.
