About this artwork
Mayuko’s Thread is n° 11 of the Botanical Freedom series, a cycle of twenty-one works in which I explore organic processes as metaphors for autonomy, growth, and interconnection. The work unfolds as a delicate yet resilient surface, where handmade paper fibers form a porous field that simultaneously conceals and reveals embedded traces of color.
The composition is structured around a network of filaments that recalls vegetal tissues, roots, or mycelial… systems—living architectures that expand without hierarchy, guided by intuition rather than control. The “thread” evoked in the title is both material and symbolic. With Mayuko’s Thread, I try to invite the viewer to slow down and attune their gaze to the intimate scale of natural processes. The work becomes a contemplative space where fragility and strength are inseparable, and where botanical forms offer a quiet yet persistent vision of freedom rooted in connection rather than isolation.
Matteo Silva is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the worlds of visual art and music. A painter, composer, and producer, he was introduced to the arts in early childhood by his parents, nurturing a deep sensitivity to form, sound, and silence. After completing academic studies in music and building a long, successful career as a recording artist and producer, he has dedicated his creative life to exploring the interplay between sound, image, and perception.
His art is deeply meditative and reflects a lifelong engagement with eastern philosophy, in particular with Dzogchen and Zen. These contemplative roots inform both his visual and sonic language, offering not merely aesthetic experiences but invitations into awareness and presence.
Working with oils, acrylics, mixed media, and immersive sound and light installations, Silva’s recent works blend visual rhythm, harmonic structures, and melodic intuition to evoke mystical and contemplative dimensions.
