About this artwork
Thread n°1 opens this Botanical Freedom series as a foundational work, establishing the visual and conceptual language of the cycle. A dense yet breathable network of white filaments spreads across a vibrant green–turquoise field, evoking vegetal tissues, roots, and mycelial structures in continuous expansion.
Color emerges through the interstices of the surface—warm ochres, reds, and golds embedded beneath the fibrous layer—suggesting seeds, minerals,… or dormant energies held within the organic matrix. The composition has no fixed center: growth unfolds laterally, through connection rather than direction and the “thread” functions as both structure and metaphor. It binds difference without enclosing it, proposing freedom as an organic condition—one that arises from interdependence, permeability, and the quiet intelligence of natural systems.
Matteo Silva is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the worlds of visual art and music. A painter, composer, and producer, he was introduced to the arts in early childhood by his parents, nurturing a deep sensitivity to form, sound, and silence. After completing academic studies in music and building a long, successful career as a recording artist and producer, he has dedicated his creative life to exploring the interplay between sound, image, and perception.
His art is deeply meditative and reflects a lifelong engagement with eastern philosophy, in particular with Dzogchen and Zen. These contemplative roots inform both his visual and sonic language, offering not merely aesthetic experiences but invitations into awareness and presence.
Working with oils, acrylics, mixed media, and immersive sound and light installations, Silva’s recent works blend visual rhythm, harmonic structures, and melodic intuition to evoke mystical and contemplative dimensions.
