About this artwork
Reality is the closing piece in this series and my technical response to the Art Informel tradition. In this 80x80 cm work, the metaphor of structural collapse becomes physical through the integration of a three-dimensional honeycomb network that detaches from the canvas.
Through a process of pictorial sculpture, I use dense layers of gesso and pigments to create a surface of great thickness and relief. The rust tones and eroded texture symbolize… the moment when idealization gives way to the solidity of truth. It is a piece with a powerful tactile quality that seeks to transform the canvas into a wall of memory and raw matter.
Mayte Yagüe, known artistically as MAGÜE, is a Barcelona-based visual artist with a background in Graphic Design. Her works demonstrate a profound mastery of composition and color, and she has achieved significant international recognition. She employs acrylics, contemporary collage, and reliefs, developing a Material Abstraction that combines gestural chaos and ordered geometry, highlighting three-dimensionality and tactile richness. Her pieces explore marine fluidity and introspection, conveying calm, resilience, and a vibrant stillness that invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the serenity and transformative energy of nature.
