Sometimes you have to seize the opportunity. When I asked a man near Page, Arizona, about the conditions at Alstrom Point, I subsequently asked him for a photo. The scene was reminiscent of a painting and suited the place and the people who live there. The elderly, warm-eyed veteran with his patina-bleached Dodge in front of an approaching rain front symbolizes the bond between man and his faithful vehicle. The image tells stories of freedom and… independence in a wild, untamed land full of longing and adventure.

Michael Kleiser has been a passionate photographer for over 35 years. He focuses on people, landscapes, wildlife, and narrative objects around the world. He is interested in all subjects that create mood and atmosphere and possess the potential for individual expression. A key feature of his work is often monochrome, square shots, but he doesn't allow himself to be restricted. Precise compositions characterize his works and create a visual dynamic for the viewer—images must move. His "optical observations" convey originality, background information, as well as emotionally rich experiences and stories, captured in the moment of the shutter and subsequently digitally processed. Kleiser's leisure is aptly described by "Loook": "Love of optical observations by Kleiser."
