The Appaaloosa Mr. Appy was the lead stallion of a Brumby herd. Anzac was a former trail horse who, along with a few other retired horses, had been let out into the bush to live out his life. This is where they met and put on a little show right in front of me, as if they wanted to say: "When there's nothing left of us but bones in red earth, you'll paint us." And that's what I did.… This image haunted me through the years.
