About this artwork
In this series I have documented the life of my chickens in paintings. Realistic and yet not at the same time not, I use pastel colors to take the viewer through the first year of the feather-footed bantams' lives, from their first days as chicks to the fully grown birds, who are united by a deep, intimate bond between siblings. The picture shows summer. The chickens have not yet fully grown into their feathers and are between chick age and adult…
chicken. They are bonded in intimacy. Two of the chickens are supporting their sibling, who cannot walk because of a deformed leg. The still life around them shows the flowers that were growing in the garden at that time and played a role in their first summer. This work is a story of empathy and will create a contemplative atmosphere in any room, a retreat into nature for the eyes and the soul. This work was part of Art Shopping Paris, Carrousel du Louvre.
