About this artwork
In this series I have documented the life of my chickens in painting. Realistic and yet not realistic, I use pastel colors to take the viewer through the first year of the feather-footed bantams' lives, from their first days as chicks to the fully grown birds, who are united by a deep, intimate bond between siblings. The picture embodies winter. The chickens are already more settled, connected in familiarity. The still life around them shows snow-covered…
branches, icy rose hips and other details that played a role in their first winter. This work impresses with its multitude of details and will create a contemplative and uplifting atmosphere in any room, a retreat for the eyes and the soul. This work has already been exhibited at the 5th Pastel Biennale in China and the Art Shopping Paris, Carrousel du Louvre.
