About this artwork
In this series I have documented the life of my chickens in painting. Realistic and yet not realistic, I use pastel colors to take the viewer through the first year of the feather-footed bantams' lives, from their first days as chicks to the adult birds, who are united by a deep, intimate bond between siblings. The picture shows spring. The chickens have only just hatched and are a few days old. The early bloomers that surround them are just begging…
to be painted. Almost every plant has a meaning and is by no means chosen at random. This work will create a feeling of new beginnings and spring-like opulence in every room, a retreat into nature for the eyes and the soul. This work was selected by the expert jury and was part of the Pixel Pastel exhibition in Canada. Most recently
