About this artwork
The Passage is a work from the Abstractions and Wanderings series. It is purely abstract but crafted in such a way that the eye might perceive reference points that are, in fact, illusions and mirages. The title itself is a trap. The oil paint lends it a warmth and a silky quality that makes it seem vibrant, more alive. The use of a palette knife across most of the composition accentuates this impression while respecting the abstraction and the sense… of mystery it evokes.
« The artist is this poet who colors his dreams and gives them a reality. »
Michel Saint-Luc is a French painter who has exhibited in Spain, Germany, and France. Having been born and lived close to water his entire life, Saint-Luc's works reflect his passion for seascapes. He often blurs the horizons, allowing the eye the possibility to seize and redefine it. His figurative and abstract compositions are created using knives and painted with oils on canvas or cardboard.
