About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture the spirit of love and continuity through symbolism and expressionism. Love for oneself and for others is represented by this man declaring his love to the woman, hoping she won't be distracted by his 1933 Rolls Royce Phantom II (love of material things).
Love for Nature, composed of the visible and the invisible, is symbolized. I have represented the elements of Nature: earth, water, air, and fire (a declaration… of invisible flame on the painting). The human being is also composed of these four elements: the body is said to have been created from earth, contains on average 65% water, has a normal average temperature of 37°C, and functions through successive movements of inhalation and exhalation.
Nature takes into account the plant world (visible in the artwork) and the animal world (invisible in the painting). I sprinkled cinnamon and gunpowder respectively onto the "sand" and the "bitumen".
Mohamed Lamine Sylla, with roots in cabinetmaking and lighting design, skillfully uses recycled wood painted with oil. Embracing contradictions and eco-responsibility, his techniques fuse repurposed objects, paintings, and furniture into thoughtful, three-dimensional compositions. His works invite contemplative reflection on love, spirituality, and environmental protection. Having been passionate about photography for a very long time, in 2025 he decided to share his passion through the most beautiful shots he had captured a few years earlier.
