About this artwork
This is her very first painting which was in August 2013 upon her return from the South of France, specifically in St. Paul de Vence. She had never painted, but followed her instinct and deep urge and picked up a paintbrush. From that day on she have been hooked. and guided to create. She didn’t really see the face of the woman in the painting until 2015 and realized it was in fact a self portrait.

Monique J Dufour is a Canadian self-taught artist based in Spain, who has exhibited her work throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. Whilst on a trip to France in 2013, she picked up a paintbrush and never looked back, now busying herself daily with her luminous, intriguing abstract compositions. Dufour is guided by divine energy and the thrill of creativity, and seeks primarily to move others through her artistic practice.
