About this artwork
In this painting, created with bright acrylic paints, I capture the vibrant energy and lively atmosphere of Venice. Inspired by Fauvist painting, I use bold, expressive colors to depict the dark and light sides of the city. The result is an almost surreal scene that brings the vibrant architecture and mysterious bustle of the people to life. This artwork is intended to enliven the senses and enrich any space with its dynamic energy and colorfulness.
Monique Jacquemin, a trained watercolorist, expanded her repertoire with acrylic and oil painting at the arte fact art academy in Bonn. Her art reflects daily life and hovers between figuration and abstraction in order to use different color and form registers. Jacquemin creates multi-layered works that achieve complexity and depth through motifs, collages and texts. Her art encourages reflection on the absurdities and challenges of everyday life.
