About this artwork
To Be Queen or Not To Be is an anamorphic work with three points of view, created in homage to Elizabeth II. Through the viewer's gaze, the child, the woman, and the Queen are successively revealed, unveiling the metamorphosis of the same being without ever altering its essence.
Created using 3D printing, the artwork is covered in a textile incorporating the Union Jack. The flag becomes a second skin, a symbol of identity and duty so powerful that… they can sometimes overshadow the face of the woman behind the Crown.
Highlights of gold paint, gold leaf and copper leaf enliven the surface with a changing light, underscoring the passage of time and the nobility of a destiny.
More than a tribute, this work invites us to go beyond the symbol to rediscover the human being, and reminds us that behind every icon there remains a person.
