About this artwork
The Sacred Fire is a work created for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as a tribute to Pierre de Coubertin and the universal values of Olympism. The only sculpture exhibited throughout the Games at Club France in La Villette, it was sponsored by Diane de Navacelle de Coubertin, a descendant of the founder of the modern Olympic Games.
Built around an anamorphic image, the artwork invites the viewer to look beyond the symbol and reveal the human element.… It reminds us that the true Olympic flame resides not only in the fire, but also in the values it conveys: self-improvement, respect, fraternity, and peace.
Crafted in bronze, its patina, with its ember-like hues, combined with semi-precious stones, gives the illusion of a living flame frozen in a noble and timeless material. The bronze becomes the guardian of this invisible energy, transforming the ephemeral into eternity.
