About this artwork
In this delicate portrait entitled Gisèle, we are transported to the Normandy countryside in the late 1930s.
The face of a little girl appears with gentleness and restraint, imbued with a silent innocence. Her clear and calm gaze seems to transcend time, as if it already carried a memory of the rural world that surrounds her.
The light-colored hat, the slightly loose blond hair, and the simple outfit evoke the everyday lives of country children… at that time. The soft palette, made up of natural and muted tones, reinforces the nostalgic and timeless atmosphere of the scene.
Through this sensitive approach to portraiture, I seek to capture a fragile moment between childhood and awareness of the world.
Gisèle thus becomes a universal figure of childhood, evoking both the simplicity of rural life and the discreet poetry of memories.
This work is part of my "Lost Paradises" series.
