About this artwork
"Girl with Cats" is part of my "Lost Paradises" series where I explore the fragility of idealized worlds and the gradual disappearance of an innocence linked to nature.
The work depicts a little girl kneeling in a bright and peaceful landscape, evoking a Garden of Eden that is both protective and ephemeral.
Surrounded by lush vegetation and an open horizon overlooking the water, the little girl shares a moment of silent complicity with two cats.… Their presence suggests the simple, instinctive, and pure love that unites childhood with all living things, in a harmony that remains intact.
Nature appears here as an idyllic, almost timeless refuge. Yet, a crack runs through the ground in the foreground. Essential, it introduces the idea of a paradise on the verge of disappearing.
This symbolic fracture marks the boundary between preserved purity and its inevitable loss.
Through this gentle and contemplative scene, I evoke the nostalgia for a fragile golden age.
