About this artwork
"Underwater Fantasy" — part of the "Between Worlds" series, in which contemporary abstract painting, metaphysical and mystical art, and marine symbolism merge into an expressive visual language. This mixed-media work opens a view into a poetic underwater world where coral reefs, tropical fish, and the deep blue of the ocean merge into a dreamlike seascape.
At the center, a golden fish—real and mythical—glides through Caribbean waters. Its patterned… body and shimmering fins evoke a jewel of the sea, a symbol of change, hope, and inner transformation. The tactile surface was created by combining texture art, acrylic painting, texture paste, and fine river sand. Light reflections move across the layers of paint like waves over coral. A transparent UV-protective varnish enhances the luminosity and adds shine. Presented in a gold-colored wooden frame, which can be removed upon request.
Natalia Kison is a contemporary artist working at the intersection of painting and relief. Her practice explores matter as a vessel of memory, where surface, trace, and form become inseparable. Working with acrylic, marble powder, and texture pastes she creates textured, tactile surfaces that allude to archaic symbols and geological structures. Her artistic language is rooted in materiality, symbolism, and the inner expressiveness of form.
