About this artwork
There are moments in life that no one notices from the outside. No big signs, no conversations, nothing that looks like change. But something shifts quietly inside you, and suddenly you know: you’ll never be the same again.
This work is about that kind of moment, a soft inner decision that appears almost without sound. There’s no drama, no collapse. Just the sense that a thin line within you has moved a little, and you’ve become someone new. Yesterday… you were pure, naive, open in a childlike way. And today you face yourself differently - stronger, more grown, a little scared, but deeply, unmistakably alive.
Natalia Shutiak is a Ukrainian abstract artist living and working in Chicago. She holds a Master’s degree in Art Education and has over twenty years of professional experience in visual communication and creative practice. Since relocating to the United States, she has fully devoted herself to painting. Working primarily with oil and acrylic on canvas, she approaches abstraction as a way of staying honest with herself. Her paintings emerge from an attentive listening to inner emotional states shaped by change, uncertainty, and personal transformation. Through color, gesture, and texture, she traces these internal shifts until they find their own form on the surface. Her work often explores the fragile boundary between what is revealed and what remains hidden, creating space for quiet reflection and an intimate dialogue with the viewer. Her paintings are held in private collections in Ukraine, Europe, and the United States.
