About this artwork
Ginger is one of the artist’s earliest portrait works and reflects her ongoing commitment to psychological presence over material intervention. Created without the use of craquelé or relief elements, the painting relies entirely on expressive brushwork and tonal depth.
Executed in a restrained palette of deep brown, bronze and high-gloss silver tones, the surface carries subtle luminosity and quiet strength.
Ginger invites recognition rather than… spectacle — intimate, grounded and resolute.
I spent twenty years building a business. Then, in the stillness that followed, I began to paint.
My work is rooted in Christian faith, not as a theme, but as a foundation. I believe that brokenness is not the end of a story. It is where the most honest part begins.
The craquelure in my paintings is not manufactured. It grows. I build up layers until they fracture, organically, unpredictably, and then I paint each crack by hand with Lascaux gold paint. One by one. No two surfaces are ever the same.
Gold is not decoration. It is the light that enters through the broken places.
