About this artwork
This is part of a series of portraits where I have tried to simplify the face and yet convey the essence of the personality of the person. The work in this series is heavily influenced by late 19th, early 20th century Japanese portraiture.
Although acrylic is the primary medium, ink has also been used for certain detail. The working ready to be displayed with all necessary hardware attached.

Norman Lerner is a prize-winning American painter and photographer whose works have been exhibited nationally. Describing his art as having always been eclectic, his interest lies in the landscape, as well as people, fashion, and street photography. Lerner's current compositions are inspired by Japanese figurative art from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. He creates in a spontaneous and chaotic manner, employing acrylics, oils, and gilding on canvas.
