This work is an original Polaroid transfer / emulsion lift, created by hand on Hahnemühle acid-free Torchon watercolor paper. The photographic emulsion is carefully separated from its original Polaroid backing and transferred onto the paper’s textured surface, where it permanently bonds with the fibers. Due to the nature of the process, each piece is unique and cannot be reproduced.
Hahnemühle Torchon watercolor paper is 100% cotton, acid-free,… and lignin-free, meeting museum and archival standards for longevity. When properly stored and displayed under recommended archival conditions, the materials used ensure long-term stability and preservation.
For display, a deep-set archival frame or shadow box is recommended to accommodate the paper’s natural undulation and dimensional qualities.
Nura Qureshi is a German-born artist who works predominantly with photography. Of Turkish origin, she grew up in a multicultural household raised by a Pakistani father and a German mother. The experience of navigating two distinct cultural value systems continues to shape Qureshi’s artistic practice. This tension fuels the central question at the heart of her work, as she explores themes of collective memory and identity.
