About this artwork
This work explores the emergence of the unexpected at the heart of a structured world. The imperfect circle, crossed by a vertical black line, suggests a traced path, a continuity, but which is suddenly interrupted or altered by the appearance of unexpected shapes and colors. This line symbolizes the stability of our lives, sometimes disrupted by events or ideas that we cannot anticipate.
The bright red square in the center seems to embody the epicenter… of this disruption, a point of rupture or renewal from which the improbable emerges. This vibrant red seems to want to detach itself from the more neutral frame and the dark lines, symbolizing the sudden eruption of an energy, an idea or an emotion. It reminds us that even in a world where everything seems predictable, there are still unexpected flashes that change the game.
The touches of blue and the colorful patterns on the side evoke the fluidity and spontaneity of this emergence.
Olivier Toma, trained in various mediums such as painting, calligraphy and mosaic, expresses the universality of man through his art. He fuses abstract painting and calligraphic gestures, creating his own style, "Calligraphism of the Senses", using Indian ink, egg-based paint and volcanic earths. His works, inspired by different cultures and traditions, reflect an intense mix of emotions, sensations, and energies, seeking to capture the very essence of human connections.
