The geisha turns it into choreography: steps measured, voice tuned, feeling folded like silk and tucked away.
What interests me here isn’t the costume; it’s the cost.
White paint is a lighthouse and a lock.
Beauty buys safety, and silence signs the receipt.
What is behind the lacquer?
This picture is a contract. The societal ask is to be adored, be intact,… be quiet.
But the body keeps its own diary.
You can see it in the angle of a wrist, a breath taken half-deep, the shadow that refuses to match the smile.
If you’ve ever worn shoes two sizes too small just to be allowed in the room, you know this language.
Masks can be masterpieces.
Freedom is the moment when the face you own walks out into daylight without a shield.
