About this artwork
The work represents an Alux, (The aluxes are Mayan elves), the painting is made with oil and newspaper clippings that give movement to the work. The artist uses very characteristic elements of his work such as color, shapes and the heart. In this work the artist mixes the style of "African Primitive" art and pre-Hispanic cultures with a childish aesthetic and his personal style.

« An artist in motion, I always like to experiment and evolve in my work, I consider myself a fun person, sometimes I like to be irreverent in my way of expressing myself. »
Pablo Benlliure is a painter, draftsman, and sculptor based in Mexico whose main artistic themes are inspired by the art of African and pre-Hispanic cultures, which he views as sincere and pure. In addition, Benlliure combines elements of naive art to form his own genre, which he calls "Afroprehispánico lúdico". He hopes that the combination of these elements, paired with vibrant colors, will elicit joy in the viewer.
