About this artwork
The image was taken during a gulet cruise in the Northern Sporades Islands. It aims to convey the fairytale, intimate atmosphere of the cliff-top monasteries, home to monks, artists, and artisans, seen at work during the visit by the male crew, as women were then (and I believe still are) prohibited from disembarking.
It is part of the volume 'Terre di Mare - Sea Land' and was taken with a Canon F1 camera and a 300 mm telephoto lens.

A professional photographer in the 1980s, he uses photography, painting, and sculpture to explore the human journey and the emotions of places of transit, drawing inspiration from Calvino's literature. His techniques range from photographic realism to figurative painting and wood and terracotta sculpture, always seeking to capture moments of life and personal feelings. His works convey profound moments of anticipation and introspection, inviting the viewer to share universal emotions in the most diverse places around the world.
