Charlevoix, a 1-hour drive from Quebec City, the mountains rise in a majestic choreography; a photograph captures the soul of the small village of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François. Nestled in the folds of this region, the village stretches along the St. Lawrence River, tracing its perfect harmony over 6 km. During a stay with friends, the night had deposited a first blanket of snow: Eagerly welcoming dawn, we embarked on a long walk with our dogs, along… a path between the banks of the St. Lawrence and the Charlevoix mountains. In the cool of the morning, the humid air of the river created a comforting atmosphere, where enormous flakes, similar to celestial snowballs, descended from the sky. As the walk progressed, a treasure was revealed: a pastel blue mini-caravan emerged, almost magically, from the misty gray background of the mountains. Pascal Clément, a passionate photographer and visual artist, offers unique works in a limited edition of 4 copies. His artistic approach is based on the woven photography technique, an approach where each photograph is carefully cut into thin strips and then woven by hand to give birth to a unique composition. These images intertwine, creating an effect of texture, depth and movement that transcends classical photography, offering a nuanced expression of identities and perceptions. Pascal enriches his art through many years of learning, both self-taught and academic. Through the WOVEN technique, he fuses precision and emotional intensity, paying particular attention to humans, nature and the spontaneity of fleeting moments. His works demonstrate a deep empathy and genuine admiration for the beauty of humanity, revealing the richness and complexity of suspended moments.
