About this artwork
Like all children, I watched the clouds. Since childhood, I've been fascinated by their movement, their elusive shapes, the filtered light, and the whites and grays in a thousand different shades. I'm an adult who still contemplates the clouds. I watch them dance, much to my delight!
Cloud Dance refers to the work of choreographer Isadora Duncan: Narcissus (1905). In this choreography, the movements develop according to a continuous and uninterrupted… flow, in a spatio-dynamic alternation between heaven and earth, between tension and relaxation, between bodily opening and closing.
"Cloud Dance" is also an album I've been listening to for years; it's the first album by American sitar player and composer Collin Walcott, released in 1975 on the ECM label. For this recording, Walcott was joined by the group Gateway, composed of John Abercrombie, Dave Holland, and Jack DeJohnette.

Originally from the tranquil scenery of Switzerland, Patrick Piccinelli set forth on an enriching academic journey that took him to the distinguished corridors of ECAL (University of Art and Design, Lausanne, Switzerland), a stronghold of artistic brilliance on the global frontier. The respected tradition of flawless typography for which Switzerland is famed, coupled with the deep-seated influences of Swiss graphic design, known for its austere, minimalistic, and refined aesthetics, significantly guided Piccinelli’s artistic path. His palette is firmly rooted in geometric minimalism, a stylistic reverberation reminiscent of the illustrious “Zürich movement.” This era of artistic zeal was pioneered by notable figures such as Max Bill, Richard Paul Lohse, and Verena Loewenberg, luminaries who were the frontrunners of geometric or constructed artistry. His works have recently been acquired by collectors in the United States, Japan and Europe.
