To understand the connections between this painting “Take It To The Limit 2,” inspired by the music of Etta James, one must engage in a sensitive, almost synesthetic reading: seeing the music and hearing the painting. My painting does not seek classical harmony, but a coexistence of tensions—exactly like Etta's interpretation of her title “Take It To The Limit.”
In song as in painting,… there is a central idea: to hold, to push, to resist. Etta James stretches the voice to the breaking point; as a painter, I stretch the composition to the point of imbalance.
As with Etta James, it is not about formal perfection, but about achieving raw emotional truth.

Originally from the tranquil scenery of Switzerland, Patrick Piccinelli set forth on an enriching academic journey that took him to the distinguished corridors of ECAL (University of Art and Design, Lausanne, Switzerland), a stronghold of artistic brilliance on the global frontier. The respected tradition of flawless typography for which Switzerland is famed, coupled with the deep-seated influences of Swiss graphic design, known for its austere, minimalistic, and refined aesthetics, significantly guided Piccinelli’s artistic path. His palette is firmly rooted in geometric minimalism, a stylistic reverberation reminiscent of the illustrious “Zürich movement.” This era of artistic zeal was pioneered by notable figures such as Max Bill, Richard Paul Lohse, and Verena Loewenberg, luminaries who were the frontrunners of geometric or constructed artistry. His works have recently been acquired by collectors in the United States, Japan and Europe.
