About this artwork
'Dichotomy' stages a confrontation between opposing emotional energies. The canvas is split vertically, with each side representing a distinct emotional current—restraint versus intensity, clarity versus chaos. Yet both sides are turbulent, neither entirely still nor resolved.
At the centre lies a dense black form—part block, part fracture. It does not serve as a line of balance but rather as a wall of tension. It absorbs, reflects, and distorts… the emotional charge surrounding it.
The piece is an exploration of contrast, not only in form or palette but also in psychological states. Dichotomy illustrates the coexistence of different emotions without achieving harmony. It offers no reconciliation, only recognition—that clarity often emerges from conflict, and that contradiction can sometimes be the truest reflection of the self.

« To me, art is a 'visual voice'. It acts as a voice for the voiceless. It's a form of communication that crosses cultural and linguistic barriers, representing people across time and place – a voice of freedom and expression. »
Peisy Ting is a self-taught abstract artist whose work explores the emotional and psychological contrasts that shape the human experience. Drawn to abstraction for its freedom and fluidity, she uses bold colours, layered textures, and intuitive gestures to examine themes of duality — chaos and control, light and shadow, structure and surrender.
Her practice is deeply personal, rooted in transformation. Turning pivotal life moments into acts of creation, Peisy reclaims her story through works that are both raw and restrained, balancing vulnerability with composure. Each material choice becomes a metaphor: texture as memory, gold as fracture, space as resilience.
Peisy sees painting as a space of inquiry — not for resolution, but for reflection. Her work invites quiet, introspective encounters where contrast becomes not conflict, but a threshold: a place where presence, emotion, and meaning quietly emerge.
