About this artwork
The second in a series of sunflower still life studies, in acrylic and oil paint on stretched canvas. The bold centralised composition and emphasis on shapes and edges suggest a geometric interpretation of an organic subject; the broken patches of colour, visible measurement marks,corrections and amendments push further towards abstraction whilst giving a sense of life and movement in the flowers.
