About this artwork
'Her determination to push through her torment drives her. Sometimes it feels in vain, but she persists and confronts her demons. In her strength she casts out her obstacles and reaches for the light.’
The dancer here is enveloped by inner torment, but with strength she forces herself into a dance routine to break the depression. I wanted to illustrate the point in which the despair breaks away into lightness, and the dancer finally reaches a point… of inner peace and self acceptance.
I combined oil paint with stencil to embody the raw intensity and passion of human expression. Through expressive, semi abstract forms, and a vivid contrast of bright yellow and dark hues, I aimed to illustrate the dynamic, upward surge of the human spirit. This artwork invites viewers to contemplate the boundless power of aspiration and the ceaseless pursuit of light and growth. It's a celebration of resilience, and of reminding us of the strength within to reach for our highest goals.
