About this artwork
This was a private commission organised by DegreeArt.com as a wedding gift from the wife to her husband, depicting the couple at the after party following their marriage.
What was originally going to be a fairly standard portrait piece developed into a larger and more ambitious project when I was asked to submit an alternative preliminary sketch that included a smaller image of the couple, with the after party setting being the dominant feature.…
The most striking photo that we each agreed on was one of them standing by the swimming pool, which had been candle lit around the border, and filled with large helium filled balloons.
The most dramatic and beautifully timed moment was the point at which the balloons rise out of the water, and I wanted to capture the joyful atmosphere, and aura of colour and movement that best summed up the day and the elaborate setting.
