About this artwork
My fascination with how 'we' interact at the margins between land and sea has always been part of my DNA. I have always been drawn to the constant movement along the shoreline be it in a harbour setting, the sea on a stoney beach, a cliff edge or as in this particular painting the sea wall. I prefer to express the colours more as my reaction to that moment in the landscape rather than represent them as 'local colour' representationally. For me…
it is more about the mood of the place at a moment in time and how that can be captured.

Philippa Headley is a painter with a rich background in art history and formal training, primarily working in oils but also using acrylics. She has a Diploma from The Royal Society of Arts, is a graduate of Christies Fine Art Education and holds a BA (Hons) degree in Art History. Her technique is deeply expressionistic, evolving between impressionistic, abstract, and representational, often driven by intuitive responses to landscape and colour.
