About this artwork
This is a painting made up of three sheets of metal trellis, with a square mesh, each of which has been painted beforehand, randomly.
Indeed each rope has been colored in green, yellow or orange, these are the complementary colors to the purple background of the work.
Before freezing the whole on the canvas, Philippe Fares slightly shifted the metal panels between them, in order to obtain a tricolor network which crawls in the plane of the painting.…
The green-anise frame reinforces the contrast of the complementary colors.
With this imposing work, the artist gives us a topology that is made up of interconnected segments, where the eye of the observer is lost in a surface labyrinth.
