About this artwork
“In this work, I sought to paint a gentle and loving presence, rather than a portrait. The figure, with open arms, embodies a gesture of welcome and protection. The circle surrounding it is for me an inner space, a world without beginning or end, where color becomes energy.”
The sketched landscapes—the sea, the boat, the land—evoke travel and crossing, those passages we all experience. Inspired by icons and folk art, I construct a simple and direct… image, where spirituality is intuitive, human, and accessible. This painting is an invitation to pause, breathe, and find a place of calm within oneself.

Philippe Seigle, a painter based in France, has exhibited his works nationally, as well as in Brazil, Italy, the United States, Mexico, and Morocco. Having lived in several exotic countries, Seigle was influenced by and has kept his penchant for bright colors. Describing himself as a naive colorist, his compositions feature characters whose paths intersect. His vibrant pieces are created using acrylics on canvas.
