About this artwork
With Emersion of Red, I continue my investigation of matter as a narrative device and a point of friction between interiority and exteriority. The dominant presence of red, amplified by the inclusion of a textile texture that almost seems to tear or emerge from the surface, gives the work a pulsating, corporeal, almost breathing quality.
The composition does not proceed by definition of forms, but by collisions: the pictorial gesture meets the non-pictorial… material, the fluidity of color encounters the resistance of the structure. The result is a visual organism that does not represent, but acts; it does not describe, but emerges with the force of a primal impulse. The work seems to capture a moment of radical transformation, a point at which the material is no longer what it was, but is not yet what it will become.

Pietro Daresta is an experienced artist based in Italy whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in France, the United Arab Emirates, and Monaco. His works explore the themes of humanity and its frailties, the passage of time, and the observation of the universe, where everything is destined to change.
