About this artwork
1943 An explosion of red opens in the grey of the matter, like a living wound in the ash.
The work evokes the memory of 1943, a year of war and destruction, but also of resistance and rebirth.
Red becomes a symbol of blood and life, of pain and hope intertwined.
With rough gestures and layered marks, I transform tragedy into visual energy, making memory a living painting. The dense, scratched paint amplifies the sense of urgency and pain, but… also allows a glimpse of the possibility of light. 1943 is a visual cry, a meditation on the fragility of man and the power of memory that, even amidst the ruins, continues to resonate.

« If we assign a place to art by designating it a space in which it must act, then we run the risk of rendering it harmless. Art must be subversive. -Anselm Kiefer »
