About this artwork
Untitled (Orange Flag No.2) is part of my Orange series, in which I explore color as an energy field and matter as memory.
The surface is constructed through layers of plaster and stucco, worked and forced to dry to create cracks, grooves, and micro-craters. Texture is not decoration, but language.
Ochre forms the organic base, while crimson red glazes penetrate the grooves, creating a visceral and profound vibration. The dialogue between striped… surfaces and porous zones creates tension between control and instinct.
In this phase of my research, the material becomes the protagonist and the color enters the surface instead of being limited to it.
I'm a self-taught painter, and what sets me apart is my free and instinctive use of color, which in my work is layered to create dense textures and crowded urban landscapes. I began with more spontaneous and light-hearted works, then evolved towards a more conscious and critical approach. At the same time, I explore abstraction with works inspired by Pollock and Rothko. My Cities are born from abstract foundations. The City as a complex organism that reflects the contradictions of our time. My series explore three great fragilities: the vulnerability of cities to climate change, the wounds inflicted by man through wars and manipulated ideologies, and the inequalities between glittering centers and forgotten peripheries. I paint universal, non-geographic cities as a metaphor for the human condition: places that bear the hopes, scars, and tensions of our time.
