Our ancestors imagined that the stars were, in fact, eyes looking down at us from the night sky. This magical interpretation is just one reflection of their cosmovision: the profound and unique way a culture perceives, interprets, and understands the world around them.
This is an alebrije, a mythological creature formed by the union of different animals. The artist wanted to use only Mexican animals: in this case, the head of an axolotl, the body… of a snake, the wings of a hummingbird, and the feet of an armadillo. Alebrijes are very colorful and are part of our contemporary Mexican culture.
