Our ancestors imagined that the stars were, in fact, eyes looking down at us from the night sky. This magical interpretation is just one reflection of their cosmovision: the profound and unique way a culture perceives, interprets, and understands the world around them.
For the ancient cultures of Mesoamerica, this vision integrated nature, spirit, and divinity into a cyclical universe full of dualities. Based on observation and a deep connection… with the supernatural, they understood life, death, and time in an extraordinarily rich way.
Inspired by this heritage, the present painting confronts us with a cosmos that looks back. Through a contemporary style that flirts with abstraction, the work invites the viewer to pause and decipher the canvas.
